Gulf Music Sales is a family-run musical instrument distributor proudly serving musicians, educators, and retailers across the United States. With a carefully curated catalog of trusted brands, we specialize in everything from beginner-friendly instruments for school music programs to performance-grade accordions built for the concert stage. Our customers include local music shops, schools, community programs, and working musicians who rely on our decades of industry expertise.
Founded in 2001 by Louis Rodriguez, Gulf Music Sales draws on a lifetime of real musical experience. Louie’s career began in the 1970s playing congas in Los Angeles clubs. As a teenager, he was already performing nightly, eventually joining the stage band for the musical Hair and playing at the famed Palladium, one of L.A.’s legendary Latin music venues. Louie later transitioned into the business side of music, becoming a top-performing sales representative for industry-leading brands like Latin Percussion and Hohner. His rare combination of on-stage know-how and deep product knowledge shaped the core of our business: understanding exactly what musicians need, from the ground up.
Gulf Music Sales started with a simple mission — to deliver reliable, high-quality instruments to a market that had long been overlooked: educators and entry-level players. In 1999, Louie introduced SofiaMari, a durable, accessible accordion line that quickly became a favorite in school music programs and community groups. Today, more than 25 years later, SofiaMari remains a trusted choice for teachers and first-time musicians nationwide, valued for its blend of playability, consistency, and affordability.
In 2015, we expanded our vision with the creation of Alacran, a professional-grade accordion line designed by Louie himself. Built with stage presence, tone, and rugged reliability in mind, Alacran reflects decades of hands-on expertise as both a musician and product specialist. Louie also collaborated with Pierluca Polverini to design the Alacran ALL3112, further pushing the boundaries of performance and craftsmanship.
Each model is custom-crafted to meet the demands of serious players, from Tex-Mex and Norteño bands to conjunto ensembles and touring professionals. With its striking design and robust sound, Alacran continues to make its mark across Latin and folk music stages throughout the U.S.
